Asset Protection Associate
About the position
Performs scheduled and ongoing tasks to protect Michaels’ assets by maintaining safety policies and procedures, as well as security. This role involves controlling inbound and outbound trailer and automobile traffic, ensuring proper documentation and load bar/strap installation. It also includes managing card access, badge systems, and key control. The associate will investigate incidents and accidents, conduct safety and security audits, and maintain the department's code of conduct and confidentiality. Additionally, the role supports the \"After Hours\" program, responds to emergencies, monitors various security systems (fire, intrusion, access control, CCTV), and maintains safety awareness programs. The associate will also assist in safety orientations for new team members and perform other related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Controls inbound and outbound trailer and automobile traffic, ensuring proper documentation and load bar/strap installation.
- Maintains and manages card access and badge systems, building key control, and equipment key systems.
- Performs \"end of shift\" bag checks.
- Investigates incidents and accidents, documenting them appropriately.
- Performs various daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly audits and tasks regarding safety and security.
- Supports the \"After Hours\" program, including receiving calls on trailer deliveries and communicating with retail stores about delivery issues.
- Responds to medical and other emergencies, providing first aid or assistance.
- Monitors fire, intrusion, and access control systems, responding to and notifying appropriate individuals and agencies when alarms are received.
- Monitors and maintains the CCTV system and cameras.
- Maintains safety awareness programs and helps resolve safety concerns.
- Aids in maintaining safety in the facility and reports unsafe conditions or acts.
- Assists in safety orientations for new team members.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office suite and the ability to learn other related systems.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong phone communication skills.
- General understanding of the Distribution Center workflow and familiarity with building layout.
- Effective organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
- Ability to adjust well to varying pace of work and stay focused at all times.
- Frequent standing/walking, both in the office area and within the warehouse.
- Regular sitting when working in an office environment (including Trailer Control Center).
- Occasional reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling and twisting.
- Occasional lifting/carrying of items of varying weight to perform tasks.
- Repetitive motion and movement of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
Nice-to-haves
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; additional related training/certification is a plus.
- 1+ years of related experience is preferred, providing support to an organization of similar scope and complexity.
