About the Role

Our client is seeking a visionary and highly motivated Head of Science Department to lead the science faculty at a prominent secondary school in Liverpool . This leadership role requires a dedicated educator with a profound passion for science and a proven ability to inspire both students and staff. You will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of the science curriculum, fostering an environment of scientific inquiry and discovery, and ensuring outstanding educational outcomes across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. The successful candidate will be instrumental in promoting scientific literacy and nurturing future scientists within a dynamic academic setting.

Key Responsibilities Lead, manage, and inspire the Science Department, setting clear strategic objectives and driving academic excellence. Develop and oversee an innovative and engaging science curriculum that meets national standards and student needs. Ensure the highest quality of teaching and learning across all science disciplines, promoting practical and theoretical understanding. Manage departmental resources, budgets, and facilities effectively to support teaching and research. Mentor and support science teachers, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional development. Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. A strong academic background in a relevant science discipline (e.g., degree in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics). Significant experience teaching science at the secondary level, with demonstrable leadership experience. In-depth knowledge of current scientific advancements and pedagogical approaches in science education. Exceptional leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
