This position is 16-20 hours a week and is located at Orange County Corrections

Research shows over 80% of females in detention experienced sexual abuse or sexual assault in their lifetime. This position offers detained females in OCDC an opportunity to understand the impact of sexual violence and to begin a path of healing through group/individual services. Position is part-time (20 hours maximum per week (with at least 17 hours required in the detention center per week and up to 3 hours per week for administrative and/or training time).

Schedule may include days, nights, and/or weekends.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: To provide sexual trauma services to incarcerated females who experienced sexual abuse/violence.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITY

• Ensure VSC and Orange County Orange County Corrections Female Detention Center (OCFDC) contract expectations for the Sexual Trauma Survivor Program are met by creating a safe, secure environment where the female population can address emotional issues resulting from sexual trauma.
• Facilitate the Orientation/ Awareness group on a bi-weekly or weekly basis based on demand to inmates housed in female detention center.
• Conduct an individual screening/ assessment for those inmates who have an interest in participating in additional programming.
• Determine inmate participation in group as well as individual sessions based on the screening /assessment, using established inclusionary/ exclusionary criteria.
• Provide opportunity for inmates participating in services to address underlying emotional issues and replace dysfunctional coping patterns with appropriate coping skills.
• Utilize training, experience and established screening tools to assess inmate service needs and appropriateness.
• Work with inmates upon release to provide support, assistance, and advocacy to victims of sexual assault towards long­ term recovery.
• Inform inmates of VSC services available, including the 24/7 Sexual Assault Hotline to them as reintegrating into the community is planned.
• Facilitate/ Co-Facilitate on an on-going basis the 8 week cycle of Sexual Trauma groups using VSC curriculum.
• Provide in-person crisis intervention, emotional support, and guidance and counseling to select individual inmates in the jail setting.
• Establish therapeutic relationships with inmates via counseling services to encourage continuation of services with VSC upon their release, towards long term recovery.
• Assist in victim assessment for PREA cases, as needed/requested.

• As applicable, provide direct or collaborate with VSC Victim Advocates on behalf of the victim, as appropriate.
• Follow-up with the victim compensation on behalf of any eligible/ applicable client.
• Refer client for therapy and any additional related services upon release, as applicable.
• Case Review and Data Collection
• Complete/maintain progress notes, case plans, and attendance records for participants.
• Attend case review meetings and supervision supervisees to discuss cases/ services.
• Compile specific data on persons participating in Sexual Trauma Orientation.
• Measure performance of Sexual Trauma Services by administering pre-post tests.
• Asses and report to VSC Program Director the need for any additional Sexual Trauma services that may meet the need of inmates.
• Assist in the creation/revision of tools & approaches used for screening; group or individual sessions.
• Maintain documentation of services provided and accurately maintain civil rights information (gender, race, national origin, age, disability, etc.).

• Compliance with Orange County Jail Training/ Orientation expectations.
• Attend Victim Services Practitioner Training, CORE training for sexual assault, and continuing education to maintain practitioner status.
• Refer any concerns to VSC Program Director and/or Orange County Jail Program Administration.
• Participate in supervision, case review and VSC staff meetings as scheduled.

• Masters degree in counseling, psychology, mental health, social work, or other related social services field.
• Florida DOH Registered Intern or Licensed Therapist required (areas of: Mental Health, Social Work, or Marriage & Family Therapy)
• Successfully pass a criminal background check and E-verify.
• Possess a valid Florida Driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, and have a satisfactory driving record.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to remain calm and respond to individuals in crisis and emergency situations.
• Ability to interact positively with unique individuals of all ages, genders, religions, cultures, ethnicities, attitudes, beliefs, other characteristics without discrimination.
• Knowledge of law enforcement and court procedures.
• Successfully pass screening process as Orange County Jail volunteer and complete required Jail Initial Orientation within 30 days of hire and refresher as required per Orange County Jail expectations.
• Basic computer skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Understand and protect client confidentiality.
• Successful completion of the FCASV core training within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with established policies and regulations.
• Ability to work a non-traditional schedule.
• Ability to facilitate or co-facilitate group sessions.

Sensory Requirements: verbal and written communication is required. Tasks may involve exposure via sight and smell of bodily fluids, evidence bearing clothing and violent crime scenes. Tasks involve listening and responding to intimate physical knowledge of a crime against a victim.

Environmental Factors: Tasks may involve contact with angry or potentially violent individuals. Tasks may involve contact with individuals with known and unknown diseases. Tasks may include contact with individuals under the influence of either legal or illegal substances.
