Digital Marketing & Social Media Consultant — Financial Services | College Students Welcome

Are You Creative, Social Media Savvy, and Looking for Real-World Marketing Experience?

We're a well-established, independent retirement plan advisory firm looking for an energetic, creative digital marketing freelancer to help us take our online presence to the next level!

Our company, Ok401k, helps businesses and their employees make better decisions about retirement investing. We have an established website, a weekly email newsletter, and Facebook and LinkedIn accounts.

Here's the opportunity: We have the knowledge, the experience, and the content. We need someone with fresh ideas who knows how to make it all more interesting, engaging, and effective online!

What You'll Be Doing

Help improve our website's appearance, messaging, and visitor engagement.

Make our weekly investment and retirement newsletter more visually appealing and interesting.

Create engaging Facebook and LinkedIn posts that attract attention and encourage interaction.

Work with our existing FMG marketing platform, which integrates our email and social media communications.

Suggest creative marketing campaigns, graphics, short videos, and other ideas.

Help us reach more business owners, company executives, and employees interested in retirement planning.

Track basic marketing results and recommend improvements.

Who We're Looking For

You might be a great fit if you're a college student studying marketing, communications, advertising, business, or a related field — or an early-career freelancer with comparable skills.

We're especially interested in someone who:

Understands Facebook, LinkedIn, and digital marketing.

Has good writing and communication skills.

Enjoys creating content and using tools such as Canva.

Is comfortable learning new marketing software.

Has initiative and isn't afraid to suggest new ideas.

Can work independently and deliver projects on time.

Lives in the Oklahoma City metro area and can meet with our company president face-to-face approximately once a week.

Experience with FMG is helpful but not required. You do not need an investment or financial services background.

What Makes This Opportunity Different?

You'll work directly with the president of an established retirement advisory business and gain firsthand exposure to the investment and retirement planning industry.

You'll learn how a fiduciary financial advisor works with businesses, retirement plans, and individual investors while building a portfolio of real marketing projects.

We don't want someone who simply posts pictures and clicks buttons. We want someone who brings ideas to the table and helps us grow!

This is a paid, independent freelance consulting opportunity, not a traditional internship or employee position.

Interested? Tell Us What You Would Do Differently!

When applying, please include:

A brief introduction and why this opportunity interests you.

Examples of social media posts, graphics, websites, or marketing projects you've created.

One or two ideas you would suggest for improving a retirement advisory firm's Facebook or LinkedIn presence. You can even visit my website at and tell me what is good and what is bad. It's primarily aimed at CFO's, HR Directors and owners of companies that make a decision on who their 401(k) advisor is. We also work with participants that leave a company and need help to rollover their 401(k) to a no commission IRA.

Confirmation that you live in the Oklahoma City metro area and can attend weekly in-person meetings.

Your availability to begin.

We're ready to get started immediately and look forward to finding someone with fresh ideas and the enthusiasm to make them happen!

Common Interview Questions And Answers

1. HOW DO YOU PLAN YOUR DAY?

This is what this question poses: When do you focus and start working seriously? What are the hours you work optimally? Are you a night owl? A morning bird? Remote teams can be made up of people working on different shifts and around the world, so you won't necessarily be stuck in the 9-5 schedule if it's not for you...

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

3. WHAT IS "WORKING REMOTE" REALLY FOR YOU?

Many people want to work remotely because of the flexibility it allows. You can work anywhere and at any time of the day...

4. WHAT DO YOU NEED IN YOUR PHYSICAL WORKSPACE TO SUCCEED IN YOUR WORK?

With this question, companies are looking to see what equipment they may need to provide you with and to verify how aware you are of what remote working could mean for you physically and logistically...

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

Or you may receive even more specific questions, such as: What's on your calendar? Do you plan blocks of time to do certain types of work? Do you have an open calendar that everyone can see?...

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

8. HOW TO PRIORITIZE WORK?

The day I watched Marie Forleo's film separating the important from the urgent, my life changed. Not all remote jobs start fast, but most of them are...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
