Institutional Sales
Job Description:
- Drive growth of Taft-Hartley/institutional assets under management across all investment products
- Source assets from U.S. investment consulting firms, focusing on firms in the Central and Eastern U.S.
- Conduct direct outreach to Taft-Hartley plan sponsors
- Position Raymond James Investment Management and affiliates’ capabilities before consultants
- Guide offerings through manager research processes and secure positive ratings for consultant-influenced searches
- Manage affiliate consultant relations efforts, including headquarters and field offices
- Collaborate with Client Portfolio Management, Institutional Sales, and affiliates
- Manage relationships with investment consultant research staff and field consultants
- Develop and execute sales plans for assigned consulting firms
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities with Taft-Hartley plan sponsors
- Lead business development meetings and close institutional account sales
- Build relationships with labor and management trustees, fund administrators, and fund professionals
- Attend Taft-Hartley industry, regional, and trade-specific conferences, conventions, and events
- Attend client review meetings at the request of funds or investment consultants
- Provide comprehensive call notes and market feedback on affiliate products and industry trends
- Serve as a trusted advisor and intellectual contributor to the institutional community
- Define research meeting agendas and prepare consultant presentation materials
- Maintain the CRM system
- Review RFPs for potential clients
- Perform additional assigned duties
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Finance or Business
- At least 10 years of experience working in asset management
- At least 5 years of experience working in a consultant relations role for a multi-capability institutional investment management firm
- Proven and measurable track record of gaining product ratings, getting into searches, and generating AUM and revenue through investment consultants and plan sponsors
- Extensive knowledge of the investment management industry
- Comprehensive understanding of investment consultants and their institutional clients
- SIE required unless an exemption or grandfathering can be applied
- FINRA Series 7 License
- Advanced concepts, principles and practices used in the securities industry
- Advanced concepts, principles and practices of marketing and sales
- Knowledge of institutional investment management products
- Effective questioning and listening techniques
- Detail orientation and follow-up skills
- Ability to identify trends and communicate to management
- Proficiency operating standard office equipment and required software applications
- Ability to market the company and show resilience through prospecting
- Ability to work independently and make non-routine decisions
- Effective oral and written communication with all organizational levels, including senior management
- Ability to organize and manage multiple detailed tasks with changing priorities and deadlines
- Ability to balance conflicting resource and priority demands
- Ability to partner with other functional areas
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all organizational levels
