DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Senior Marketing Manager, Knee Reconstruction, located in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Warsaw, IN, or Cincinnati, OH to lead the U.S. downstream commercialization strategy for the Depuy Synthes Knee platform.

Position Overview

This Senior Marketing Manager will report to the Director, Knee Reconstruction Marketing, and lead a team accountable for downstream strategy and execution across the DePuy Synthes primary knee portfolio. This leader will own the commercial strategy to accelerate market share growth, drive competitive conversions, deepen surgeon engagement, and strengthen the clinical differentiation of the ATTUNE platform and its underpinning surgical philosophies.

The primary knee implant market is one of the most competitive and clinically consequential spaces in orthopedics. Success requires a leader who can translate deep clinical understanding, market intelligence, and surgeon insights into bold commercial strategies that change surgeon behavior and shift share. This role demands a balance of strategic vision and executional rigor -- setting the direction for the team while ensuring disciplined delivery across multiple concurrent initiatives.

In close partnership with Sales, Upstream Marketing, Medical Affairs, Global Education, R&D, Health Economics, and regional marketing partners, this leader will shape the go-to-market approach for the knee implant portfolio, drive clinical messaging and evidence strategy, and build programs that move surgeons along the adoption continuum from awareness through advocacy. The role will also serve as a key voice in shaping upstream portfolio priorities by ensuring downstream commercial realities and surgeon feedback are reflected in product development, technique evolution, and pipeline planning.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Strategy & Market Share Growth

  • Own and lead the U.S. downstream commercialization strategy for the ATTUNE Knee System, including positioning, messaging, segmentation, competitive response, and market share growth plans.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans that drive competitive conversions, expand surgeon adoption of the Solutions in Motion philosophy, and accelerate penetration of the Kinematic Restoration surgical approach across target segments.
  • Define and prioritize target surgeon segments based on procedural volume, competitive usage, clinical philosophy alignment, and conversion potential; build tailored engagement strategies for each segment.
  • Establish pricing and contracting strategy inputs in partnership with Sales Operations and Commercial Excellence to optimize portfolio value capture.
  • Set annual and quarterly commercial objectives, allocate resources against highest-impact opportunities, and manage the marketing budget to deliver ROI.

Clinical Messaging & Evidence Strategy

  • Lead the development of differentiated clinical value messaging for the ATTUNE platform, grounded in biomechanical evidence, clinical outcomes data, and the Kinematic Restoration surgical rationale.
  • Partner with Medical Affairs and Health Economics to build and deploy the clinical evidence strategy, including publication planning support, evidence compendium development, and health economic value propositions.
  • Translate complex biomechanical and clinical concepts into compelling, surgeon-relevant narratives that resonate across different adopter profiles -- from early innovators to pragmatic majority.
  • Ensure all clinical messaging is defensible, compliant, and competitively differentiated; oversee regulatory and legal review processes for the team's output.

Go-to-Market Planning & Launch Excellence

  • Lead go-to-market planning for new implant configurations, instrument innovations, technique evolutions, and platform enhancements, ensuring field readiness and clear success metrics.
  • Define launch strategy including phased rollout plans, early adopter identification, training requirements, field communications, and post-launch performance tracking.
  • Coordinate cross-functional launch readiness across Sales, Upstream Marketing, Global Education, Supply Chain, and Sales Operations to ensure seamless commercial execution.
  • Conduct post-launch reviews to capture learnings and continuously improve launch processes.

Surgeon Education, Engagement & Advocacy

  • Shape the surgeon education and engagement strategy in partnership with Global Education, including cadaver labs, technique training programs, peer-to-peer forums, fellowship engagement, and visiting surgeon programs.
  • Build and manage key opinion leader (KOL) relationships and surgeon advisory boards that inform strategy, validate messaging, and amplify clinical advocacy.
  • Lead platform presence and engagement strategy at major society meetings including AAOS, AAHKS, and relevant regional and subspecialty conferences.
  • Develop surgeon advocacy programs that convert satisfied users into active champions who drive peer influence and referral in partnership with the DS Surgeon Alliance team.

Competitive Intelligence & Market Insights

  • Own the competitive intelligence function for the primary knee implant market; monitor competitive launches, clinical publications, messaging shifts, pricing dynamics, and market share trends.
  • Translate competitive and market insights into actionable strategic recommendations, including defensive positioning, proactive response plans, and opportunity identification.
  • Lead voice-of-customer research programs to continuously refine understanding of surgeon needs, adoption barriers, decision drivers, and satisfaction across the ATTUNE installed base.
  • Deliver regular market and performance briefings to the Director and senior leadership with clear strategic implications and recommended actions.

Field Enablement & Sales Partnership

  • Partner with Sales leadership to ensure the field organization is equipped with the tools, training, messaging, and competitive resources needed to win in the market.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive field enablement toolkit including selling guides, competitive battle cards, objection handlers, account targeting resources, and customer engagement playbooks.
  • Support key account strategy and high-value conversion opportunities in partnership with regional sales leaders and field marketing teams.
  • Establish feedback loops with the field to continuously refine commercial programs based on real-world effectiveness and surgeon response.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of marketing managers and associate marketing managers; set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and foster a culture of accountability, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
  • Set team priorities and manage workload allocation to ensure disciplined execution across multiple concurrent initiatives without sacrificing strategic focus.
  • Build team capabilities in clinical marketing, competitive strategy, evidence-based messaging, and cross-functional leadership.
  • Attract and retain top talent; support career development and succession planning within the team.

Upstream Partnership & Portfolio Influence

  • Partner with R&D and upstream marketing to ensure downstream commercial requirements, surgeon feedback, and market insights are reflected in portfolio priorities, product design, technique development, and pipeline planning.
  • Provide input on user experience, workflow design, and instrumentation based on field and surgeon feedback.
  • Collaborate with regional marketing partners to share best practices for launches, competitive response, and clinical messaging across global markets.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in marketing, product management, and/or commercial strategy, with demonstrated career advancement.
  • Experience with direct people leadership, including coaching, performance management, and team development.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute commercial strategies that drive measurable market share growth and competitive conversion.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in business performance reporting, market analytics, and financial modeling.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence senior leadership, cross-functional partners, and surgeon customers.
  • Ability to translate complex clinical and technical concepts into clear, compelling commercial narratives.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
  • Up to 40% domestic and limited international travel, including overnights and occasional weekends.

Preferred

  • Experience in Joint Reconstruction marketing or a closely related orthopedic segment.
  • Experience in medical devices and/or MedTech with clinical procedural understanding.
  • Experience with both upstream and downstream marketing disciplines.
  • Track record of successful product launches in a competitive medical device market.
  • Experience building and executing surgeon education and KOL engagement strategies.
  • Experience supporting society meeting engagement and podium strategy (AAOS, AAHKS, or equivalent).
  • Experience with pricing and contracting strategy in a capital or implant environment.
  • Familiarity with clinical evidence strategy, health economics, and outcomes-based value messaging.
  • Ability to work with cadavers and within an operating room setting.
