Claim Representative
Job Description:
- Handle low-complexity commercial auto claims involving physical damage, property damage, total loss, fuel spills, medical payments, and cargo damage
- Establish initial and subsequent contact promptly with insureds, claimants, witnesses, vendors, and other stakeholders
- Provide updates, explain new facts, and communicate impacts on liability analysis and settlement options
- Collaborate with vendors to ensure timely appraisal and damage evaluation
- Analyze coverage using policy information and loss facts or allegations
- Communicate coverage decisions and update coverage analysis as new facts arise
- Ensure compliance with jurisdictional and statutory requirements
- Secure and update claim information throughout the claim lifecycle
- Complete required data and reporting
- Establish, maintain, and document initial, subsequent loss, and expense reserves
- Investigate claims through strategic contact with policyholders, witnesses, law enforcement, agents, medical providers, and technical experts
- Interview witnesses and stakeholders and take recorded or written statements when appropriate
- Evaluate recovery potential and handle or direct recovery efforts
- Use diary management systems to ensure timely and compliant claim handling
- Collaborate with external vendors, including appraisers and independent adjusters
- Manage total loss processes, including vehicle appraisals, diminished value, vendor networks, subrogation demands, salvage procedures, and heavy equipment appraisals
- Perform other functions as assigned
Requirements:
- 1+ years of casualty claim handling experience; trucking experience preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Computer proficiency, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Previous experience in a customer service role or related field preferred but not required
- Willingness to learn and expand knowledge
- Must obtain independent adjuster’s licenses for all states requiring them, including AL, CT, GA, FL, ME, MS, NY, NC, SC, TN, and TX
- Licenses must be obtained within 90 days of hire, requiring coursework, testing, and background checks that may include fingerprinting
- College degree preferred or equivalent work experience
- Business-related travel as required, estimated at less than 5% of time
