Job Summary: To provide high-quality patient-focused health care services to all patients within the scope of practice through physician orders in accordance with all Texas State Laws and Regulations and company policies. Currently licensed as ARRT in the State of Texas with CT experience. Follows prescribed techniques for producing general and specific x-rays and CT scans for diagnostic purposes. Performs laboratory testing according to industry standards of practice and CLIA. Essential Job Functions: Every effort has been made to make your job description as complete as possible. Role Qualifications <ul><li>Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology</li><li>Ability to work with patients of all ages.</li><li>Clinical experience performing CT scanning is documented.</li><li>Ability to perform CT procedures without constant supervision</li><li>Ability to assist with specialized procedures involving sterile techniques.</li><li>Current ARRT License in good standing.</li><li>Current Texas MRT License in good standing.</li><li>Current BLS required.</li><li>Continuing education hours are required to keep up license renewal according to state specific guidelines.</li><li>Pass background check(s).</li><li>At least 2 years of Radiology and CT experience, free standing Emergency Center experience a plus.</li><li>Must have exceptional technical skills. </li></ul>Radiology Duties <ul><li>Prepare patient for x-ray, CT scan, explain procedure to patient and/or family, prepare room, equipment, and materials needed.</li><li>Position patient and arrange immobilization and support devices for patient</li><li>Practice radiation protection techniques to limit exposure to patient and medical staff.</li><li>Adjust equipment controls, determine proper voltage, and exposure time.</li><li>Administer routine x-ray exams.</li><li>Observe patient and machine during procedure. Report unusual occurrences and record patient’s condition.</li><li>Document patient chart with procedures performed.</li><li>Clean and disinfect radiology room and equipment, maintain and order supplies for radiology.</li><li>Perform radiology quality assurance tests and maintain records.</li><li>Assist with front-end registration staff or additional clerical duties as necessary.</li><li>Knowledge of specific and OSHA requirements regarding radiological procedures.</li><li>Ability to accurately read and write medical terminology. </li><li>Ability to work in a high-pressure environment while maintaining excellent patient care and customer service.</li><li>Ability to work all shifts including day, evening, weekends and holiday hours as needed. </li><li>Effective team player.</li><li>Detail oriented with exceptional interpersonal communication skills.</li><li>Efficient time management skills with ability to anticipate workflow and perform synchronous tasks</li><li>Basic typing and computer proficiency, preferably experienced with Windows</li><li>Microsoft Office, EMR/EMP systems, etc. </li></ul>Laboratory Duties <ul><li>Ability to learn and master immunoassay instrument procedures including running calibrations, controls, reagents, detergents, sample testing and all consumables.</li><li>Ability to learn and master simple daily immunoassay machine maintenance.</li><li>Complete training in use of laboratory equipment and required documentation to comply with all OSHA and CLIA/COLA standards.</li><li>Patient interview and documentation relevant to completion of lab required paperwork.</li><li>Decanting of urine specimens into sample tubes and completion of immunoassay testing per protocols within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and/or instruction manual for laboratory machines.</li><li>Perform laboratory testing on patient samples per SOPs and instruction manuals, including proper daily controls and intermittent calibrations as required.</li><li>Perform corrective actions as required and simple routine maintenance of lab equipment as instructed in training, SOPs, and equipment instruction manuals.</li><li>Prepare report of machine assays in such a fashion that can be placed into the physician’s medical records.</li><li>Contact equipment servicer, Lab Director, Clinical Consultant, or technical consultant as needed for assistance.</li><li>Dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste per OSHA guidelines</li><li>Maintain proper inventory of consumables, office supplies, and paperwork necessary to continue daily operations.</li><li>Assist in Labs’ operations as directed by Nurse Manager or other delegated authority. Such duties may include but are not limited to inventory management, accounting, and marketing.</li><li>Report immediately to Nurse Manager any clinical, equipment, or business issues that arise during operations that are unusual, hazardous, disruptive, or that require corrective actions. </li></ul>Lead Specific Duties <ul><li>Responsible for building and maintaining the radiology staff schedule.</li><li>Responsible for covering any unfilled shifts on the schedule.</li><li>Ensure workload is evenly distributed among staff</li><li>Help to coordinate coverage for call-ins & absences</li><li>Clearly communicate and introduce new processes into the department/unit</li><li>Keep Nurse Manager and Rad/Lab Regional Manager apprised of patient complaints, staff issues</li><li>Ensure communications are clear and concise</li><li>Serve as an expert resource to staff for clinical or technical questions, patient or customer concerns, and process questions</li><li>Complete Lead Lab Review daily; submit to Regional Manager at the end of every month</li><li>Ensure lab & radiology inventory meets facilities needs</li><li>Ensure RSO binder is kept up to date</li><li>Ensure Monthly Radiology QC is performed before the 10th of each month</li><li>In conjunction with your Regional Manager, ensure CT QCs are performed/sent to PACS daily (Siemen’s) or weekly (GE)</li><li>Ensure Dosimeters badges are uploaded, returned & replaced according to facility requirements.</li><li>Review dosimeter reports for overexposures and report Overexposures to Surepoint RSO.</li><li>Ensure Disinfection of Ultrasound TV probe is followed and logged according to SEC policy.</li><li>Required to work two scheduled weekend shifts per month (does not include weekend on-call rotations).</li><li>On-Call – Participate in monthly on-call rotation as needed</li><li>Has the ability to travel to all Surepoint locations in your area including the corporate office.</li><li>Has the potential to travel to facilities outside of assigned region when deemed necessary</li><li>Required to attend occasional/quarterly in-person meetings at the corporate office.</li><li>Be active in interviewing Radiology applicants with Regional Radiology Manager and Nurse Manager.</li><li>Assist Nurse Manger with gathering information for yearly evaluations, disciplinary actions, corrective action plans or any Radiology employee assistance needed.</li><li>Orientation and training of new Radiology staff.</li><li>Coordinate cleaning/stocking/organizing/labeling of Rad/Lab areas.</li><li>Maintain state of readiness for Rad/Lab inspections.</li><li>Daily operation of lab to include daily QC’s, maintenance, binders, LJ reports, and Sysmex Insight reporting if applicable.</li><li>Notify Nurse Manager of any supply needs, equipment issues, repairs needed, and any questions/concerns. </li></ul>Physical Demands, Work Environment and General Requirements: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
