<p>Security Engineer II | Cybersecurity Engineering</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Chicago Area | Hybrid, Onsite Only a Few Days per Month | Contract-to-Hire or Direct Hire </strong></p><p><br></p><p>I’m hiring a <strong>Security Engineer II</strong> for a large healthcare organization in the Chicago area. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on security professional who wants <strong>ownership</strong>, not a narrowly siloed security role.</p><p><br></p><p>The team is looking for someone who started with a solid IT foundation and progressed into cybersecurity. You’ll take technical ownership of <strong>2–3 enterprise security applications</strong>, lead and support security projects, improve controls, automate processes, troubleshoot issues, and help determine the operational strategy for the technologies you own.</p><p><br></p><p>This is <strong>not a SOC monitoring-only position</strong>. They want an engineer who can get into the technology and drive it.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>What I’m looking for:</strong></p><ul><li>8–10 years of overall IT experience preferred, including <strong>4+ years in cybersecurity</strong></li><li>Hands-on Security Analyst/Security Engineer background</li><li>Experience <strong>implementing, administering and owning enterprise security tools</strong></li><li>Strong automation/scripting experience with <strong>Python and/or PowerShell</strong></li><li>Security incident investigation and response</li><li>Vulnerability management and threat detection</li><li>Endpoint, network, application and cloud security</li><li>Experience with technologies such as <strong>SIEM, EDR/XDR, DLP, PAM, IDS/IPS, CSPM, CNAPP or SOAR</strong></li><li>Strong documentation and process-development skills</li><li>Ability to independently lead security projects and work across IT teams</li><li>Bachelor's degree required</li><li>Security certification such as <strong>CISSP, Security+ or similar</strong></li><li>Understanding of <strong>NIST, HIPAA and PCI</strong></li></ul><p><br></p><p>Experience with any of these technologies will get my attention:</p><p><strong>CrowdStrike Falcon / EDR / DLP | Tenable Security Center | Microsoft E5 | Delinea PAM | Qualys | xDome/Medigate | Prisma | Cisco FTD</strong></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Location:</strong> Chicagoland. Hybrid with onsite meetings only <strong>a couple of days per month</strong> at Chicago-area locations.</p><p><br></p><p>Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship. <strong>U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder only.
