About the Role: We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join our Scout team-Remitly's agentic AI team responsible for building AI-powered experiences that help customers send money, solve problems, and complete tasks wherever they are-whether on Remitly's website, mobile app, or third-party platforms like WhatsApp. As a member of the Scout team, you'll collaborate across teams to enable money transfer functionality on external platforms and help other domains by providing them with a robust conversational AI platform. You'll be involved in prototyping, validating, and scaling new AI-driven solutions. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional partners including UX, Legal, Compliance, and Marketing, as well as most platform engineering teams, giving you exposure to a wide range of technical and business challenges. You Will: <ul><li>Gather and analyze requirements.</li><li>Design, code, and test APIs, data storage solutions, and integration with third-party services. Identify and fix issues or bugs.</li><li>Work with the team to quickly resolve problems and maintain system stability.</li><li>Collaborate with teams, including product/program managers and marketing, compliance and legal specialists.</li><li>Guide the team's technical strategy while leading, shipping features and systems.</li><li>Incorporate AI-assisted development into project-level estimates, identifying where AI tools compress timelines and adjusting plans accordingly.</li><li>Evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability before it ships.</li><li>Guide peers on effective and responsible AI use, including validation practices and sound judgment with AI-generated output.</li><li>Promote engineering excellence by delivering well-tested, observable, documented, efficient, scalable, and resilient solutions, improving team processes, and contributing to cross-team technical designs.</li><li>Explore new problem areas, using AI where useful to deliver prototypes or proofs-of-concept.</li></ul> You Have: <ul><li>A BS in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience</li><li>5+ years of professional experience</li><li>Experience building and optimizing large-scale web architectures.</li><li>Experience evaluating AI-generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability, and coaching others on responsible AI use</li><li>Knowledge of backend programming languages such as Java or Golang</li><li>Proven experience software development practices, system design, software design patterns, and algorithms</li><li>Proficiency in CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, etc.)</li></ul> Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is typically $180,000-$225,000. In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
