Stationary Engineer I (License Required)

<strong>Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>Provides adequate HVAC (heating, cooling, electrical, plumbing) for museum physical plant</li><li>Maintains mechanical equipment for museum physical plant and other properties</li><li>Reviews daily equipment logs for accuracy</li><li>Reviews meter readings for accuracy</li><li>Maintains museum vehicles, grounds, and other special projects</li><li>Completes assigned work orders in a timely fashion</li><li>Escorts E&F contractors to work sites on MFAH properties and supervises work</li><li>Works on installation and de-installation of exhibitions with Curatorial, Preparations, Lighting, and Electrical</li><li>Installs and de-installs banners for exhibitions</li><li>Assists in the installation and de-installation of the Retail shop for rotating exhibitions</li><li>Sets up and breaks down tables, chairs, and other equipment for events</li><li>Operates various aerial lifts (20ft to 85ft) and fork lifts to complete tasks</li><li>Drives cargo van, box truck, and pickup truck to and from work sites</li><li>As part of the essential staff- protects museum properties during natural disasters (hurricanes, floods, ice storms, etc.) </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned<br><br></li></ul><strong>Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>Working knowledge of A/C, heating, steam boilers, chillers, air handling units, electrical, plumbing, and auxiliary equipment</li><li>Able to read building prints</li><li>Willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime</li><li>Able to respond to emergency calls when off duty</li><li>Able to lift 75 lbs. or more and able perform a variety of physical tasks, including lifting heavy equipment, bending and stooping</li><li>Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate and interact with Museum employees, outside contractors, and the general public</li><li>Excellent organizational skills with the ability to focus on details; effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks.</li><li>Must have a valid Texas driver license and good driving record</li><li>Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing<br><br></li></ul><strong>Education And Experience<br><br></strong><ul><li>Possess a City of Houston 1st Grade Stationary Engineer's License</li><li>High school diploma or equivalent </li><li>Minimum two years of experience in a similar capacity in a similar size and type facility</li><li>Experience with METASYS system a plus<br><br></li></ul>The successful candidate will be required to meet our pre-employment background screening and physical exam requirements.
