Remote Late Shift Remote Legal Assistant (Southern California)

Salary range: $79K - $91K

Location: Irvine, CA

Visa Sponsorship Details: Not open to any visas (e.g. US citizen, Green Card holders)

Remote work policy: Remote after the first 30 days in-office in Irvine, CA (regular daytime hours during onboarding). Must live near Irvine. After onboarding, the hours are Monday–Friday, 11am–8pm PT, sometimes later with overtime. Optional in-office days in Irvine are welcome.

About this role

We are looking for a Late Shift Remote Legal Assistant with 5+ years of litigation experience to be the evening e-filing go-to for CDF Labor Law, one of the few California-wide boutique labor and employment firms. Once the daytime legal assistants log off at 5, you take over and get time-sensitive filings, including late-evening appellate work, across the finish line for all five offices.

What will you be doing?

  • Handle evening e-filing in state, federal and appellate courts, including filings that wait on signed verifications or settlement agreements coming in through DocuSign

  • Build litigation document shells such as master captions, motions and discovery for attorneys and legal assistants across all five offices

  • Prepare filings for court: tables of authorities, exhibit bookmarking, redactions and Bates stamping

  • Log and work overflow requests from a shared inbox with a 3-person remote Legal Support Team (your shifts overlap about 5 hours a day)

  • Help with administrative work as needed, such as attorney timesheets, expense reports and travel arrangements

Key Requirements

  • 5+ years as a Litigation Legal Assistant or Paralegal in a litigation setting (internships don't count; no maximum)

  • Extensive hands-on e-filing in state and federal courts (PACER/ECF); appellate e-filing strongly preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and knowledge of litigation documents and court rules, including the ability to spot obvious errors in a document (tested in a scenario exercise)

  • Must live near Irvine, CA for 30 days of in-office onboarding; after that, available to work remotely Monday–Friday, 11am–8pm PT, sometimes later (until 9–9:30pm)

  • Steady work history (repeated stints of 2 years or less are a red flag); proficient in MS Office 365. A bachelor's degree is preferred but not required, and a paralegal certificate doesn't matter

Role responsibilities

• Managing litigation cases

• Providing overflow support

• Travel arrangements

• Expense reports

• Entering attorney timesheets

• Administrative duties
